About Thom:

Thom Stein has been employed in the Albuquerque area car business since 1976. He landed here when his Jeep broke down, en-route from California to Utah for a ski area job. His career in the automotive industry started as a lot attendant at the Jeep dealer. He worked his way through the service department starting out as a mechanic's helper and then became a line mechanic. In 1979 he tried his luck on the sales floor and found success. He was eventually promoted into management. All of this experience lent to his well-rounded knowledge of auto sales coupled with auto repair/maintenance.

Thom's introduction to Volvo began in 1988 as the sales manager for Garcia Volvo. In October of 1994 Thom started Auto Shoppe with only two older 240 Volvo sedans in inventory. Since the inception of Auto Shoppe 10 years ago, he has personally sold over 3000 Volvos! With 16 years immersed in the Volvo product, Thom's knowledge is extensive. Thom has acted as a sales consultant/trainer to franchised dealers to help orient sales staff in the appreciation, pedigree, spirit and history of the Volvo lineage. Insurance company damage appraisers, often seek his expertise to help establish values for Volvos involved in collisions.

As a youth, Thom's interest in cars led to a career so that he now enjoys them both as a profession and a passion. He is currently a member of 5 car clubs (two associated with Volvo), and has a collection of cars and motorcycles (in various states of restoration) that keep him busy tinkering. Thom is President of the New Mexico Independent Auto Dealer Association and a member of the Better Business Bureau.
